Mom Confessions

Alright I have a confession to make....

I am the worst cook in the ENTIRE WORLD!!!!

There I said it and it's out there for everyone to know! Here are my reasons why.....

1.) All I know how to do is make tacos, spaghetti, quesadillas, and tator tot casserole.

2.) I have made more burned meals than I have successful ones.

3.) My husband won't even let me know whether the meal is edible. He just slowly eats it.

4.) I forget steps in recipes or mix them up.

5.) I am one awesome sandwich maker that's for sure!!! Just ask SJ she will tell you that her Momma can make one mean sandwich. D3's favorite food is Grilled Cheese...that should say it all there!

6.) I would rather buy a pizza than make one and it is soooo simple to make one!

7.) I get distracted by someone or something and let things cook for too long....hence the burnt meals.

8.) I have the knife skills of a troll....do trolls have knife skills?

9.) I have caught the cutting board on fire. Don't ask how or why I did it....it just happened. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

10.) My husband is a much better cook so I think I make myself worse so he would do it more....hasn't happened yet though.

Gosh I am such a hot mess!

I am learning to be better at cooking. I make more crock pot meals than I used to but that is okay. Pinterest is helping me come up with new ideas. I found a ravioli lasagna, taco cupcakes, baked spaghetti (in a crock pot), a beautiful honey lime fruit salad, and a few others. Look out for those recipes in a blog post it will be coming to a computer near you...

Before you leave let me know about whether you are just of a hot mess in the kitchen as I am or if you are a 5 star chef....they have those right? See I don't even know about these kind of things.

  3. Haha!!! My boy is the cook in our household too!! We adopted our roles in the home shortly after getting together — he is food and beverage and I'm washing and cleaning (although we have a cleaner now so I've sort of managed to get out of one of mine!!). That said, we've been together for nearly 20 years so he obviously thinks he got a good deal!! :) Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday — hope to see you again next week! x

  5. I wouldn't consider myself a five-star chef by any means but I am a good cook (I better be after spending four years in high school, majoring in Culinary Arts). I do use the crock pot a lot though because I have a really small kitchen and I hate it and my youngest is really picky so cooking has become a undesirable chore for me. I do love to bake though and I will bake more around the holidays. thanks for sharing with #momsterlink

  6. I am one of those annoying cows who can cook. Sorry - but my advice is definitely stick to crockpot/slow cooker meals. They are really hard to burn - just add more moisture and you are good to go! Keep up the good work and if all fails grab a pizza! Mel xx #momsterslink

  7. I'm not a great recipe follower, I tend to throw things together. Most of the time they turn out ok though :) Great that your husband can cook - let him do it! lol #momsterlink

    1. I am glad I'm not the only one who isn't a great recipe follower. Hate to admit it but I almost missed the whole step of putting the seasoning in noodles last night....it would have been bad! Thanks for stopping by!!

  8. Haha I have days when I feel exactly the same. Some days I amaze myself by whipping up great tasting meals and other days I stick to what I know, which isn't a lot. Will have too keep an eye out for your recipes, I love tacos and am very curious about the taco cupcakes! #momsterslink

  9. Love this, really gave me a laugh. I am totally intrigued to know more about the chopping board fire! I once set the packaging of some minced beef alight. I have issues touching raw meat, so I sort of flipped it into the pan to avoid touching it, completely forgetting about that sheet of paper type stuff on the bottom. Anyway as I was freaking out trying to get that off, the packet I still had hold of managed to get in the gas and catch fire. I'd like to say I was drunk but I wasn't lol. #momsterslink

    1. Oh my goodness Debbie! I would totally tell people it just jumped in there and when you turned around everything was out of control! Lol! I have a portable cutting board and a very small kitchen. I placed the cutting board a little to close to our gas stove top....and the rest is history! There is only a tiny black spot on it. Thanks for commenting!

  10. Haha I hate cooking and often forget things in recipes too! Or I don't have all the ingredients in the recipe so I just make it anyways and wonder why it doesn't taste very good. Or I never measure what I am doing and on the odd chance it turns out amazeballs, I can never replicate because I don't remember what I did/what the measurements were!! Good luck with the cooking :) #momsterslink

  11. I have to admit that I used to be a very basic cook. Probably because I never really had anyone to cook for. Then I got myself a husband and some kids and decided that my basics wasn't going to cut it so I started trying recipes...then I started watching cooking shows...and then I got addicted to the show "Chopped" and it has taught me a lot about how to throw ingredients together without a recipe and now...I LOVE to cook. I accomplished tasty, made from scratch gravy the other day and you would have thought I won the lottery I was so happy. Thanks for sharing your "hot mess" with #momsterslink. Love this idea ;)

  12. Hi, I'm just reading the busy doing life linky. I can cook. But during my tentative beginnings, cooking was definitely my disaster area. It gets better with practice. I'm hooked on watching Pioneer Woman on food network. She is my kind of Cook.x

  20. Oh I am rubbish in the kitchen too. I can put some meals together and I cook a mean roast and lasagne but I get so stressed throughout! It's stressful isn't it? To make sure everything tastes nice, is cooked through and is eaten by everyone! I cooked Christmas dinner last year for 6 adults and three children. Never ever again haha!
