Quote of the Week #4

I remember being 22 and not having a care in the world! All I had to do was finish my degree and work so I could pay my rent. I didn't have any little humans pulling at my pants to give them some milk or kiss a boo boo. Those days were super easy! But was all the partying and not caring worth it? Probably not....

Being a parent is the hardest work I have ever done. You don't get rewards or prizes for the work you have done. If you do it probably comes in the form of a dirty diaper. You aren't recognized for the late nights and early mornings because you are expected to "work" those hours.

There are so many days when I would like to throw in the towel because the baby has been up since 3 am or the 7 year old continues to give me attitude.

The worrying about whether I am making new the most epic mistake of the year, scared that something is going to happen to my babies, or even the times when I want to pull my hair out because I have listened to the same gosh darn movie for the thousandth time is totally worth the hugs I get at bed time. It makes the kisses seem sweeter. It is something I wouldn't change for all the money in the world.

  1. Love the quote and your post to follow is just beautiful and SO relatable! I think all us mommies have moments of wanting to pack a bag and run to the nearest beach...ALONE! But then those crazy kids do something like bring you coffee in bed with a picture they drew and something about it makes it all worth everything else. I am visiting from the wonderful #candidcuddles!

  2. I love this quote. It definitely rings true to me. Nothing worth having is easy to come by or keep, that's what makes it worthwhile. #candidcuddles

  4. I love love love this post and quote, Kristen! It's so well written and relatable! On a side note, wouldn't it be awesome if parents did get rewarded with something for doing a good job? Like for every five consecutive nights of lost sleep we get a free bottle of wine or $100 in shopping money! Obviously that's never going to happen, but like you said, we're rewarded with love, hugs and kisses, which is WAY better than anything money could every buy! Thanks so much for linking up with #candidcuddles! x

    1. Thank you so much Katie!!!! That means a lot to me! Today is a day I should get $1000 shopping spree since we have been having one of those rough days where nobody is getting along. I did get to sit down with SJ today and do a little pre-kindergarten interview. It was so fun!

  8. Oh this is so true. You are right maybe the special moments, days, occasions wouldn't mean as much if the journey had been easy. My mum used to always say this x
