Quote of the Week #7

I feel that now a days there is too much stress on woman to look a certain way. They should be a size 0 with perfectly sculpted abs. They should have beautiful flawless makeup which shows no imperfection at all. Their hair should be curled to perfection without a hair out of place.

I think that it is all a bunch of added stress put on woman and little girls. I also feel as if it doesn't allow them to be who they really are. It makes them be who the world wants us to be which is not fair to them.

I take a look at my daughters who love to play in the mud and chase our chickens which may or may not be a tad bit mean but hey we live only once and realize they are so amazing. They are the most beautiful when they have their hair out of place with grass stuck in it from them playing and exploring.

They are two totally different kids. Special K likes to pick up bugs and scare her siblings with them. She likes making messes and exploring the outdoors. Special K is shy and scared of new experiences. SJ likes to play with barbies and dress up. She loves to dance and sing. SJ will talk to anyone and tells wonderful stories about fairies.

They are beautiful in their own ways.

They are beautiful in their flaws.

They are beautiful for who they are.

They are beautiful for the things they will do.

They are beautiful when they smile.

They are beautiful when they laugh.

They are beautiful for being kids.

  1. What a lovely post about your girls and one of my fave quotes: Be your own kind of beautiful. We are all beautiful our own unique way.

  2. I totally agree. There's a part in my blog where I write about trying g to become a yummy mummy. I liked the idea of loosing a stone and having perfect hair and nails until I realised that nobody got time for that lol and that I'm perfectly fine just as I am :-)

  3. I totally agree with you. As someone who struggled with self image and body image most of my life, I'm finally in a place where I accept who I am inside and out. Thanks for sharing! Visiting from #candidcuddles

    1. I am so happy that you have found a way to accept yourself! I still struggle everyday with that in one form or another.

  4. Fantastic quote & I totally agree. Many people appear to be living an artificial life aspiring to be like the latest celebrity etc when building character is so much more important.

  5. So true! Imagine all the time wasted on curling hair and putting on makeup. I can think of a million better things to do, and I hope that my daughter never gets caught up in an obsession with self image. You're exactly right- little girls are most beautiful when they're in their element! Thank you for linking up with #candidcuddles, Kristen!

    1. Lol it is a lot of time wasted but I do love doing it. I am weird like that! I just don't do it very often.

  6. I love this quote and as a mum of two girls, I couldn't agree with you more. Neither of my two love shoes or bags like me but that's ok and I have never tried to influence them, they are who they are. But I cringe when I see them reading magazines and the messages they give out. A great quote x x x Lisa@IntoTheGlade

    1. Magazines are the worst aren't they!!! I don't even read them around the kids but they always seem to find one. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Perfect quote. If we could stop thinking about the media's flawed ideas of beauty, we would see that being ourselves is enough! #candidcuddles

    1. Exactly Debbie! I struggle with it a lot but looking through my kids eyes I realize me being me is enough for them so it has to be enough for myself.
