My Top 10 Children's Movies

As parents we watch a lot of movies on repeat. I will be the first one to tell you that some days I would rather run my foot over with a car than watch that movie one more time! I have compiled a list of movies that I would gladly watch 12 times in a row....and maybe when the kids are asleep. This is not a review of these movies just a reason why I would watch them over and over and over and....well you get the point.

These are not in any particular order as I refuse to pick a favorite. It's just too hard!!!

1.) Frozen!!!

Well of course I had to say this one! Even though hearing Let it Go 1,000 times is annoying and over the top I just can't help myself from singing it! Now I bet it is stuck in your head as well. Sorry! Not Sorry! But in all seriousness that little snowman Olaf gets me every time! Especially when he sings about Summer! Oh and when he can't feel his legs! Hahaha good times!

2.) Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2!!

Okay, Okay, Okay! I know it is two different movies but they have a similar concept. Plus the cute little minions make BOTH movies enjoyable. I could just watch them all day...and have...more than once. You can't honestly tell me you haven't googled some type of Minion meme or gif. I know I have! If you are telling me you haven't maybe you should make sure your pants aren't on fire.

3.) The Croods!

I am seriously watching this movie as I am writing this blog entry and the kids didn't even pick the movie I did. I absolutely love the idea of a family of cavemen and how they were scared of EVERYTHING before they met someone who changed their view on life. I maybe thinking too deep but it makes me think they are teaching the kids something...or not. Most likely not.

4.) Tangled!!!

I think I was more excited about this movie than my kids where! I have always loved the story of Rapunzel. I was fascinated by how her hair grew so long and the prince that came to save her! I just love Max and Pascal! How could you not love them! I could go on and on about this movie but I won't bore you to death.

5.) Wreck It Ralph!!!

How could you not love a little girl in a candyland type of video game who saves Ralph from himself? It makes me smile each time I see it!!! Just look at her on Ralph's shoulder! How freaking cute is she?!?! And she is a princess but decided that being herself as the glitch was more important! I just love that and think it let our kids know that being yourself is more important.

6.) Inside Out!!!!

Alright I am not going to give anything away about this movie since it is so new. I think that everyone knows that the 5 little characters are supposed to be 5 of your emotions...Fear, Disgust, Anger, Sadness, and Joy. My three older kids really enjoyed the movie and were able to sit through it with minimal bathroom breaks. I actually think there was only one bathroom break that happened. The little girl Riley is trying to navigate a new school, town, and house while she had left her whole world back in the midwest will make you tear up even if you don't want to admit it.

7.) Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3!!!

I know that they are three very different movies but I love them all the same! The story of two best friends who did not get along at first is always a crowd pleaser at my house. When you add a little bit of adventure and the fact that they might come to life when you aren't looking the kids can never turn it off. Okay in all honesty I sometimes request that they watch the movie...my bad!

8.) Rio and Rio 2

Blu and Jewels are two almost extinct Blue Macaws. The movie puts together bright colors of all the animals and upbeat  music. I watch the movie for just the music! I don't even care about the plot of the story. It is great that in the 1st movie you get to watch how Blu and Jewels fall in love and best friends are formed from the other characters in the movie. In the 2nd movie you get to see how their friendships have grown. Even the baby loves the movies!

9.) Brave!!!

I don't know why we barely watch Brave but for some reason it is one of the last movies I think of even though it is one of my favorites. I love how Merida is such a strong personality and she fixes her mistakes. She doesn't need someone to save her from herself like some other movies have been about. The triplets are hot messes but that is why I love the movie!

And lastly....

10.) The Lorax!!!

The whole concept of this movie is right on! Children don't always understand how certain things we do have an effect on our environment. This movie teaches kids that your environment is the most important thing we have by amazing pictures and songs that keep all of us entertained.

Now remember that these aren't by any mean a review of these 10...15 movies but it is just the children movies that I will watch even when they aren't home. Hey what is the point of having kids other than to go watch all the cute cartoons that they are coming out with now?!?!

Other movies worth mentioning are....
Finding Nemo
The Incredibles
Monsters Inc.
Megamind
Big Hero 6
Ice Age (all of them)
Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs (1 and 2)

So go enjoy a movie...with or without your baby ninja's, baby terrorist, baby monsters or whatever you call them.

  2. I have luckily skipped Frozen for the last week or so. Once we put it on I can't take it out for a month! It's good the first 12 times.

I hope you have a great weekend!
